Milligan College, Tenn. (June 18, 2013) — The Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation will induct Dr. William T. Mathes into the organization’s Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 29. The event will be held at the Mathes Tennis Center on the campus of Milligan College.
Mathes, a 1942 graduate of Milligan College and life-long tennis enthusiast, spent many years as an Ear, Nose and Throat physician in Johnson City prior to his retirement. Now, at the age of 93, he continues to play in national tennis tournaments.
The event will begin at 4 p.m., and also will feature Hall of Fame Celebrity Exhibition Tennis matches that include Upper East Tennessee Hall of Fame members Dave Mullins, William Pike, Bob Helton and Rogers McCall.
In addition to the induction ceremony, attendees will have an opportunity to play on the Milligan tennis courts in a social setting, and a barbecue dinner will be served.
