MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 19, 2013) — Dr. Gary Holloway, executive director of the World Convention, is the keynote speaker for Milligan College’s 2013 Webb Lecture Series, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Memorial Chapel.
Holloway’s lectures are titled “The Bible for Head and Heart” and “Is Ecumenical a Bad Word?” The lectures are free and open to the public.
The World Convention builds fellowship and understanding among Christian churches, Churches of Christ and Disciples of Christ congregations throughout the world. Every four years, the World Convention holds a global gathering in a different part of the world. These gatherings focus on meaningful worship, learning, contemporary evangelism and global fellowship. The next global gathering will be held in October 2016 in Seoul, South Korea.
Holloway began working as executive director of the World Convention full time in August 2010, after serving as Ijams Professor of Spirituality at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He has been a member of the Stone-Campbell Dialogue since 2003 and is a lifetime member of the Disciples of Christ Historical Society.
Holloway holds degrees from Freed-Hardeman University (Henderson, Tenn.), Harding University (Searcy, Ark.), The University of Texas (Austin, Texas) and Emory University (Atlanta, Ga.). A gifted author, he has written 28 books, including “Praying Dangerously.”
The Webb Lecture Series is named for Dr. Henry and the late Emerald Webb. Henry Webb was a professor of Bible at Milligan for more than 40 years.
