MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 28, 2012) — Students in Milligan College’s Introduction to Storytelling class will share their talents at a storytelling event, “Buffalo Tales,” on Thursday, Dec. 6, in Milligan’s McGlothlin-Street Theatre, located in the Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts.
Students will perform in two groups. The first group takes the stage at 4 p.m., and the second performance begins at 7 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
“I’m very proud of the students’ progress and the creativity they display in their stories,” said Dr. Bruce Montgomery, professor of communications and business and a member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild.
The 4 p.m. performance will feature stories performed by seven students including Elise King of Midlothian, Va.; Luke Kirk of Deltaville, Va.; Morgan Poff of Roanoke, Va.; Shirisma Shavers of Louisville, Ky.; Maze Siddens of New Port Richey, Fla.; Taylor Valentine of Mason, Ohio; and Sarah Walsh of Westfield, Ind.
Eight students will perform at 7 p.m., including local students Lauren Albrecht and Jarod Hensley of Johnson City, Tenn.; and Matt Goehner of Gray, Tenn. The other performers include Samantha Baugus of Chesapeake, Va.; Helen Biard of Asheville, N.C.; Kim Norton of Canton, Ga.; Gabe Rees of Redford, Mich.; and Peter Waller of High Point, N.C.
Stories drawn from personal experiences, Bible stories and children’s literature will entertain, inspire and touch audience members of all ages.
“This is a great event to help the students refine their storytelling skills and entertain the Milligan community in a family-friendly way,” Montgomery said.
