MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Sept. 29, 2011)—Milligan College will hold its annual Missions Awareness Week Oct. 3-7, with guest speaker Dr. Tim Ross, the minister at Hopwood Christian Church.
Ross will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and Thursday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Memorial Chapel. His topic is “The Movement of Missions,” and he will highlight stories of Milligan alumni serving on the mission field.
The college will also host a question and answer session with Ross on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. During this session, Ross will answer questions about his mission work and provide information about Perspectives, a missions class he teaches at Emmanuel Christian Seminary.
From 1987 to 1995, Ross and his wife, Marcia, served with Christian Missionary Fellowship as missionaries in Kenya among the Maasai tribe. He has been the minister at Hopwood since 1996.
Missions Awareness Week also includes a variety of student-led activities. The week will commence on Monday with an evening of prayer for missionaries around the world. Later in the week, students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of mission organizations and how they can become involved in missions work.
The week’s events will culminate with the Missions Art Show on Friday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. The show will feature photographs, poetry and other creative works reflecting experiences of the Milligan community in mission work. All of the events during Missions Awareness Week are free and open to the public.
