MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 10, 2010) — Milligan College will once again host the renowned Sonata Music Festival, a musical experience for young musicians of all ages, Nov. 19-20. The festival includes three free public concerts on the Milligan campus.
Organized by the Appalachian Classical Music Association, this festival draws student musicians from several states to perform for an elite group of judges and compete for prizes. Adjudicated auditions and awards and scholarships are offered in several categories.
The first concert of the festival, the senior competition, is on Friday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Milligan’s Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts.
Two concerts are planned for Saturday, including a concerto competition at 9 a.m. in Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel and the honors concert at 1 p.m. in the Gregory Center.
The festival culminates with the Performing Artist Concert Series on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at East Tennessee State University’s Mathes Hall. The concert will feature pianist Dr. Lynn Rice. Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
