MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (July 22, 2010) — Milligan College will offer an online New Testament Survey class this fall, creating an opportunity for individuals and church groups to delve deeper into the study of the Bible from their own homes or churches.
Students may take the class for three semester hours of college credit or audit the class to enhance their knowledge of the Bible. Taught over a regular 15-week semester, the class begins Aug. 18. All of the work is completed online, so no on-campus meetings are required.
“This class is a great opportunity for church leaders to deepen their knowledge of Scripture,” said Phyllis Fox, director of church relations at Milligan. “In addition to individual study, another great idea would be for a small group to take the class together and then focus their discussion time around the material they learn in the class. Students will be learning from a master, who is best known for his study of the Gospels.”
The class is taught by Dr. Mark Matson, Milligan’s vice president for academic affairs and associate professor of Bible. Matson is a New Testament scholar whose research focuses on the Gospels.
The class will study the entire New Testament, including a survey of Jewish and Hellenistic backgrounds.
“Students will get an in-depth look at everything from the Gospels to Revelation,” Fox said.
Milligan will also offer an online Old Testament Survey class in the spring of 2011.
Tuition for the New Testament Survey class is $90 for students who audit the class and $840 for full college credit ($280 per semester hour). Students interested in taking the class must complete an application for special admission atwww.milligan.edu/admission/pdf/specialadmission.pdf. The application deadline is Aug. 11.
