Young to oversee Milligan’s graduate and professional studies programs


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (June 21, 2010) — Milligan College welcomes Dr. Garland Young as associate vice president for graduate and professional studies.

In this new position, Young will provide administrative coordination and recruiting oversight to Milligan’s non-traditional programs, which include the Master of Business Administration, Master of Education and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy graduate programs, as well as the Adult Degree Completion Programs in business administration andchild and youth development.

Before coming to Milligan, Young served as the associate dean and director of adult education at Mt. Aloysius College in Pennsylvania. He previously held a similar position at University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky and has a 22-year career in Christian higher education. He has facilitated online learning and most recently helped Mt. Aloysius prepare to launch new graduate programs in business, education and counseling. He has also worked with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on accreditation proposals and has an excellent understanding of academic and administrative work.

Prior to his administrative work, Young served 17 years as a full-time faculty member in religion and philosophy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in religion-Greek from Union University (Jackson, Tenn.), and a Master of Divinity and a Ph.D. in New Testament studies from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, Ky.).

Young began his work at Milligan on June 14.
