Kinoshita to speak at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 22, 2010) – Glen Kinoshita, an expert on diversity issues and leadership development, will speak at Milligan College on Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel. He will also show a brief excerpt of his documentary film titled “In Search of Shalom: White People in Reconciliation.”

There will be a follow-up discussion with Kinoshita later that day at a diversity forum at 6 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium, located in Hardin Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

“In Search of Shalom” includes a series of candid interviews with people in different stages of life who share their thoughts on racial reconciliation in America. Through stories of hope and struggle, the film gives voice to people who confront challenging issues and who strive to approach racial reconciliation with a biblical worldview.

A frequent presenter on diversity and leadership issues at various national conferences throughout the year, Kinoshita is director of multi-ethnic programs at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif. He is a certified trainer with Walk Through the Bible Ministries and has served as an advisory council member with the National Conference for Community and Justice in Los Angeles.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Biola and a master’s degree from Biola’s Talbot School of Theology.

As an artist, Kinoshita expresses himself in the art of Sumi-e, or Japanese brush painting. He also enjoys culturally diverse music and plays a variety of instruments including the Hawaiian slack key guitar, ukulele, Latin and African drums, and Native American flute.
