Milligan students return to campus

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (August 13, 2009) — This weekend students will arrive on Milligan College’s campus to a whirlwind of activity, all part of “Welcome Week 2009,” Aug. 15-21.
For new students, the orientation week is a time to learn more about the campus, network with peers and partner with faculty mentors and team leaders who help guide them through their first year. For returning students, it is a time to reconnect with friends and once again settle into collegiate life.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, new students will move into the residence halls and attend several orientation sessions before officially joining the Milligan community during the annual Matriculation ceremony held in Seeger Memorial Chapel on Saturday evening. Following the ceremony, a bagpiper will lead the faculty and student body amid luminaries from Seeger to the Mary Sword Commons lawn for a dessert reception.

A campus-wide worship service will be held in Seeger Chapel on Sunday morning followed by several orientation activities during the afternoon. The day will culminate with the annual New Student Banquet on Sunday evening. Residence halls open to returning students at 1 p.m.
On Monday, Aug. 17, new students will travel to Doe River Gorge for a fun and uniquely titled event, “Kiss Your Momma Goodbye and Learn to Wash Your Own Socks, It’s the Doe River Gorge August Migration of the 2009 Buffalo Nation.”

Orientation and registration activities continue throughout the day on Tuesday with classes beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
