MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 15, 2009) — It is a “Wonderful Wednesday” at Milligan College. Day classes have been cancelled today, Wednesday, April 15, and a variety of social activities and games have been planned for the college’s annual surprise holiday.
This traditional “holiday” for the Milligan community, which is not always on a Wednesday despite the campus holiday’s name, is a college tradition dating back to the late 1960s. A veil of secrecy surrounds the exact date and theme of the surprise holiday each year. Activities are planned by the Campus Activities Board.
This year “Wonderful Wednesday” is themed “Jungle Boogie.” Festivities begin Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. with a “Passport to Paradise” brunch in the cafeteria, followed by “Safari Speed,” a race around Milligan’s Derthick Commons at noon.
Ultimate Frisbee, basketball, dodgeball and volleyball tournaments will take place throughout the afternoon, as well as the traditional waterslide at Buffalo Creek and a “Rumble in the Jungle” obstacle course.
Evening classes will meet as scheduled. For more information, please contact the Milligan PR Office at 423.957.9678.
