“Ordinary Xtradordinary” exhibit opens this weekend

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 18, 2009) – The artistic works of Milligan College senior Kori Zick will be on display March 22-27 in the Milligan College Art Gallery located in the lower level of Derthick Hall. An opening reception will be held Sunday, March 22, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Zick’s senior art show, entitled “Ordinary Xtradordinary,” reflects the graphic novel theme of her work and what she says is also the ordinary beauty of her subjects. The show will display 29 works, including 12 paintings, 10 photographs and seven drawings. Her favorite subject is portraits.

“Most of my work portrays people,” said Zick, an art major and photography minor from Durand, Ill. “I love to capture the emotions and tensions of the human body. Some are from movies and others are friends and family. I also have a substantial amount of abstracted subjects such as windows or buildings.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Alice Anthony, associate professor of art at Milligan College, at 423.461.8970.
