Milligan announces new church relations staff

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Dec. 4, 2008) – Phyllis Fox has been named director of church relations at Milligan College, announced Dr. Bill Greer, vice president for institutional advancement at Milligan. Joining Fox as associate director of church relations is Elizabethton, Tenn., native and Milligan alumnus Brent Nipper.

As director, Fox, who has served as director of the college’s Youth in Ministry (YiM) program since 2002, will provide strategic and tactical oversight to all church relations activities. She will continue to oversee the YiM program.

Nipper’s primary focus will be to increase the school’s visibility among churches.

“I am thrilled that Phyllis will be expanding her role at Milligan to include all aspects of the college’s church relations efforts,” said Greer. “Milligan’s historical church affiliation remains very important to us. Her enthusiasm and creativity will inevitably move us in exciting new directions.

Brent Nipper“Likewise, I am pleased that Brent has returned to his alma mater as associate director of church relations. His long association with the college, his church background, as well as his business skills should serve him well as he seeks to promote Milligan’s mission and vision within the church community.”

Prior to directing Milligan’s YiM program, Fox worked for Texas Instruments, managing both public relations and trade show participations for three of the company’s divisions. She and her husband, Doug, later owned a large staffing firm in Johnson City.

Nipper spent the past 10 years in various sales and management roles at Clem’s Refrigerated Foods in Lexington, Ky. While in Lexington, he served in a number of leadership positions at Tate’s Creek Christian Church.

“I am excited to serve Milligan in this new role,” said Fox. “We have a great relationship with our supporting churches and Brent and I look forward to expanding our efforts both locally and nationally.”

Throughout its history Milligan has maintained an active relationship with the Christian churches and churches of Christ. The college is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, a group of 130 colleges and universities nationwide whose commitment to a Christ-centered life goes beyond a mere occasional reference to religious traditions. Milligan actively integrates high-quality academic programs with biblical faith and a service-oriented philosophy to prepare students for life’s journey.
