MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 21, 2007) — Dr. Lori Mills, associate professor of psychology at Milligan College, recently was honored with a Distinguished Service Award at the national convention of Alpha Chi, the national college honor society. Additionally, she was selected as one of four faculty sponsors nationwide to serve a four-year term on the organization’s governing board.

Mills has been the sponsor of the Tennessee Nu chapter since its charter in 1994. This will be her first term on the council.

“Dr. Mills has been instrumental in making Alpha Chi a visible sign of student achievement at Milligan,” said Academic Dean Mark Matson. “We are pleased that Alpha Chi has recognized Dr. Mills’ efforts to further academic excellence through her encouragement of this honor society.”

Mills, an alumna of Milligan College, completed her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She has been on the faculty at Milligan since 1993.

Alpha Chi inducts students at over 300 member institutions from all academic fields who rank in the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors. More than 11,000 members are inducted annually.
