MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Sept. 28, 2006) — Dr. Bill Greer has been named vice president for Institutional Advancement at Milligan College, announced President Donald R. Jeanes. He will oversee the college’s development and constituent relations programs, including alumni, church, and foundation relations.
Greer has served 12 years as associate professor of business and economics at the college. He is currently chair of the Business Area and is the founding director of the college’s MBA program. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, an MBA from East Tennessee State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Milligan College.
“Bill has been involved in numerous committees and initiatives on our campus, and his business experience, involvement in the community, and passion for Milligan College will make him a very good leader for our Institutional Advancement program,” said Jeanes.
Greer has served on a number of community boards and committees, including the Johnson City Little League, the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Johnson City Federal Credit Union, and Mountain States Health Alliance. He is also active in church leadership at Grandview Christian Church in Johnson City.
“Bill’s passion for teaching and focus on students will also be an asset to his work in Advancement, as that is the central focus of our mission and what Institutional Advancement seeks to undergird and support,” said Jeanes. “He will be missed in the classroom but our students will continue to benefit from his work in Advancement.”
Greer succeeds former vice president Todd Norris, who took a position with the Wellmont Foundation in August.
Greer is completing an academic sabbatical and will begin his position in Institutional Advancement in January.
