Local youth minister Curtis Booher to join Milligan faculty

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 22, 2006) — Milligan College announced today the hiring of Curtis Booher as assistant professor in Bible and Christian ministries beginning in Fall 2006. Booher will replace Dr. R. David Roberts, who will retire this spring after a 24-year teaching career at Milligan College.

Booher currently serves as the young adult minister for Crossroads Christian Church in Gray, Tenn. He is a frequent keynote speaker and presenter at conferences and youth events throughout the country and has served on numerous faith-based committees and initiatives. He has written a guidebook and other curricula about discerning God’s call for teens and was a senior high camp dean at Appalachian Christian Camp in Unicoi, Tenn., from 1987 to 2004.

“Curtis has distinguished himself as a youth minister locally and nationally and has become well known in the area of spiritual development of youth and young adults,” said Dr. Mark Matson, academic dean.

Booher earned a bachelor of arts degree in Bible with a minor in psychology from Milligan College in 1985 and a master of divinity degree from Emmanuel School of Religion in 2001. He is currently enrolled in the doctorate of ministry degree program at Emmanuel.

He has been a guest lecturer at Milligan since 1990 and has served as a consultant for Youth in Ministry (YiM), a program co-sponsored by Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion.
