The beauty and drama of Thai classical art will be on display at Emmanuel School of Religion. A team of exciting dancers from Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, will perform on Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m.
The group consists of seven professional dancers and actors led by the Rev. Rob Collins, director of the Christian Communications Institute of the university, and his wife, Rev. Dr. Esther Wakeman. The hour and twenty minute program will feature a number of dances from various regions in Thailand as well as a touching modern drama of the New Testament parable of the “Good Samaritan.”
The Payap University Communications Institute was founded 26 years ago with the purpose of communicating Christian truths through the use of Thai cultural expressions. The programs include traditional and modern dance, drama, and music. Live performances are featured through the institute’s staff of 15 professional artists.
This event is open to all Emmanuel and Milligan students as well as any interested member of the community. Milligan College students in attendance will receive chapel and convocation credit. The performance is free, but there will be an opportunity to contribute to the troupe’s expenses in making this tour.
