Milligan welcomes students affected by Katrina


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Sept. 8, 2005) — Milligan College announced yesterday that it will grant full-tuition scholarships to college students who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

The offer extends to undergraduate students who had been accepted and enrolled in colleges or universities which have suspended operations due to Hurricane Katrina. The scholarships will cover full tuition and fees for fall 2005 and spring 2006 semesters based on space availability. Further discounts on room and board will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Interested students should contact the Milligan College Office of Admission at 423.461.8730 to initiate the accelerated admissions process. Students wishing to enroll for fall 2005 must do so by September 16.

The college  also has offered to match up to $3,000 in donations raised by the students and campus community for the hurricane response organized by World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization that has already provided emergency supplies for more than 10,000 evacuees.

Donations of supplies  for local organizations are being collected by various student organizations, and  student volunteers are being organized to assist at local shelters and organizations.
