Kenneson to present commencement address

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 30, 2004) — Dr. Phil Kenneson, professor of theology and philosophy, will present the commencement address at Milligan’s winter commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.

Kenneson, who has taught at Milligan since 1992, holds a Ph.D. from Duke University and has previously taught at Duke University and Duke Divinity School. His articles have been published in national theology and religion journals and he has authored the following books: “Selling Out the Church: The Dangers of Church Marketing,” “Beyond Sectarianism: Re-Imagining Church and World,” and “Life on the Vine: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit in Christian Community.”

Kenneson also holds a master of divinity degree with honors from Emmanuel School of Religion, Johnson City, Tenn., and a bachelor of arts degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind.

Twenty-nine students will receive degrees at the commencement service, including 13 bachelor of science degrees, 12 bachelor of arts and four master of education degrees.

Two of these graduates, April Rankin and Alicia Rosendahl, participated in the International Business Institute (IBI) as a part of their business administration major with an emphasis in international business. During the past summer, Rankin and Rosendahl traveled throughout Russia and Europe taking classes and visiting many global corporations.

“The IBI is a joint program of several Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) schools, including Milligan College. We’re excited that our students had this opportunity to gain valuable job experience through exploring business environments and structures that are very different than those in the United States,” said Dr. Bill Greer, professor of economics and business at Milligan College.

An alumni reception for family and friends of the graduates hosted by the Milligan College Alumni Association will be held in the George Walker Auditorium in the lower level of Seeger Memorial Chapel immediately after the commencement exercises.
