MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN ( October 1, 2004 ) —Milligan College and the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre will present the energetic dance musical “Footloose,” Nov. 10-13.
The collaborative production is based on the 1984 hit movie “Footloose.” Music from the movie’s solid-gold soundtrack will be performed, including: “Let’s Hear it For the Boy,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Almost Paradise” and the title song “Footloose.”
“This fast-paced production brings together the talents and resources of Milligan College and Jonesborough Repertory Theatre. Rehearsals have produced electric dancing and powerful stage presences,” said Richard Major, professor of theatre at Milligan College and director of the show.
Tyler Simmons, sophomore fine arts major from Newburgh, Ind., serves as stage manager. John Wakefield and Kellie Brown, professors of music at Milligan College, are musical directors. Pam Hurley serves as choreographer, Scott Hardy as lighting director, Melissa Shafer as set designer, and Monet LaClair as costume designer.
Cast members include: Josiah Potter, senior fine arts major from North Fort Myers, Fla., as Ren McCormack; Jennifer Schmidt of Piney Flats as Ethel McCormack; Tim Dillon, professor of history and humanities at Milligan College, as Reverend Shaw Moore; Laura Mee of Johnson City as Vi Moore; Lindsey Vogt, junior public leadership and service major from Alexandria, Ky., as Ariel Moore; Nancie Rogers, faculty office building secretary and scholarship program coordinator at Milligan College, as Lulu Warnicker; Marvin Glover, professor of mathematics at Milligan College, as Wes Warnicker; Nathan Flora, campus minister at Milligan College, as the Cop; Benjamin Lee as Coach Roger Dunbar; Angie Lee as Eleanor; Missie Mills, senior communications major from Jacksonville, Fla., as Rusty; Robert Kitchens, sophomore fine arts major from Elizabethton, as Chuck Cranston; Martha Rose, senior psychology major from Staunton, Va., as Betty Blast; Alex King, sophomore Bible/ministry major from Lincoln, Ill., as Willard Hewitt; Mark Matson , academic dean at Milligan College, as Principal Harry Clark; and Vanessa Baisden as Irene.

Footloose was written by Dean Pitchford and opened on Broadway in 1998.
