MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (June 30, 2004) —Milligan College and WCQR radio are sponsoring a free contemporary Christian concert featuring artists Shaun Groves and George Rowe at noon on Wednesday, July 7, in the food court at the Mall at Johnson City.
Songwriter and performer Groves’ new album, Twilight, features several rock ballads that shed a personal light on the power of faith. Groves has received six nominations for Dove Awards, including New Artist, Song of the Year for “Welcome Home” and Songwriter of the Year. Groves has toured across the country with Bebo Norman, Jars of Clay, Jennifer Knapp and Avalon. Last summer he performed with Michael W. Smith in an international tour across Europe.
Rowe’s latest album, Think About That, has a pop and R&B sound. Billboard Magazine hails the attorney-turned-artist’s voice as “a clear, pure voice that is perfectly suited to these soulful pop tunes,” and his lyrics express “the depth of Rowe’s faith and the astute observations that come from a life of self-examination.”
Wednesday’s concert is part of the Milligan College and WCQR Summer Concert Series. The next concert will feature artist Chris Rice and will be held at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray, Wednesday, August 11 at noon.
