MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 20, 2004) — Milligan College’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will host a praise and worship event featuring speaker Derrick Moore, former NFL running back, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 in Seeger Memorial Chapel. Admission is free and open to the public.
Several college athletes from across the region and many area high school athletes will attend the event.
Moore is a motivational speaker who played professional football for the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. Moore was an NAIA All-American as a senior at Troy State and was named Most Valuable Player in the 1992 Hula Bowl. He played for two years with the Lions, and he led the Panthers in rushing with an expansion-team record 140 yards and tied the expansion mark with four rushing touchdowns.
Moore now serves as team chaplain for Georgia Tech’s football team. Moore’s book The Great Adventure helps young adults understand where they are and what they must do to get where they want to be.
Allison Murray, a sophomore early childhood education major at Milligan College, coordinated the event and will give a testimony on Tuesday about how the FCA has impacted her life.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is open to all who have a special interest in sports. The purpose is to encourage Christian character and fellowship.
