Associated Ladies for Milligan holds gardening seminar


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 24, 2004) — The Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM) will host a gardening and landscaping workshop on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the McMahan Student Center on the campus of Milligan College. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Betty Freeman, owner of Metamorphosis in Johnson City , and Kim Whitson, a landscaper at Evergreen in Kingsport , will lead discussions on the design and construction of water gardens and how to design flower beds utilizing plants suited for the East Tennessee climate.

Carter County Extension Agent Hugh Conlin will share his knowledge of woody plants and trees best suited for Tennessee landscapes.

Several door prizes provided by Boone’s Creek Outdoor Power Equipment, Evergreen, Mize Farm and Garden, and Vest Nursery will be given away at the event.

There is a $20 registration fee for the event. All proceeds will be used to underwrite student scholarships at Milligan College .

Directed by Clarinda Jeanes, ALM raises scholarship dollars for the college and serves as an outreach to the campus and local communities.
