Wise named to NACC executive committee


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 24, 2004) — Joe Wise, director of development and church relations at Milligan College, has been appointed to serve on the 2005 Executive Committee of the North American Christian Convention (NACC). In addition to serving on the Executive Committee, he will serve as the local arrangements chair for the 2005 regional conference in Ridgecrest, N.C., near Asheville.

The NACC is the national gathering for more than 6,500 congregations that are part of the fellowship of Christian churches and churches of Christ. These churches, which are amongst the fastest growing in the country, consist of more than 1.6 million members and have no official denominational organization structure.

Begun in 1927 and based in Cincinnati , Ohio , the NACC has attracted between 10,000-15,000 people in recent years to conventions in major cities around the U.S. The convention typically features worship sessions, Bible studies and ministry-related workshops. This year’s convention will be held in Phoenix, Ariz., July 5-8.

Wise is an active member of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club. He previously served as vice president for the Johnson City Jaycees, who presented him with the Keyman Award in 1994. He served as chairman of the Enterprise Employee Campaign of the United Way Fund Drive from 1995-98, is a member of the Tri-Cities Public Relations Society of America, and serves as a deacon at Grandview Christian Church in Johnson City.

As director of development and church relations for Milligan College, Wise in responsible for relationships that generate in excess of $500,000 annually. Since coming to Milligan in 1998 he has been instrumental in the development of both the regional and national Leaders in Christian Service recognition program and has been involved in the development of multiple other initiatives. Prior to his work at Milligan, Wise held several management positions with Enterprise Rent-A-Car in both the United States and Canada.

Wise has done graduate study at Emmanuel School of Religion and is nearing completion of a master of arts in communications from East Tennessee State University.
