Milligan students place in national photography contest


MILLIGAN COLLEGE , TN (Feb. 16, 2004) — Fifteen Milligan College students placed as finalists in the Photographers’ Forum 24 th Annual College Photography Contest.  The top 5 percent of entries were selected out of more than 31,000 entries nationally.

Sarah Shepherd, of Englewood, Fla., received an honorable mention award in the contest, while fourteen others placed as finalists.  Milligan student finalists were Shelby Banion, Katie Baxter, Erin Blasinski , Julie Grimm, Jara Henderson, Paul Hobbs, Robin Holtman, Diane Hostetler, Dimitri Jansen, Amber Neill, Jamie Osborne, Chad Parker, Breanna Shelton and Eric Starr. This is the highest number of Milligan students to place as finalists in a given year.

The Photographer’s Forum Magazine sponsors two photography contests each year.  One contest is held in the spring for the general public and one is held in the fall for high school and college students. The magazine is published quarterly and includes interviews with master photographers, feature articles on commercial and fine art photography, book reviews, a portfolio section, various photographic information and workshops.

The finalists work will be published in Best of College Photography Annual 2004, which is scheduled to be published in mid-June.

Milligan students have submitted entries to the contest for the past eight years.
