MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 21, 2003) — Donna Colaianni has been named assistant professor and fieldwork coordinator for Milligan College’s occupational therapy program. The master’s level program is one of only two such programs in the state of Tennessee and prepares therapists to help aging or injured people relearn basic living skills.
Colaianni holds a bachelor of science in occupational therapy from the University of Pittsburgh and a master of science in occupational therapy from the University of Indianapolis. She is certified in hand therapy and holds membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Colaianni has performed in a variety of rehabilitation facilities. Most recently, she served at the Mercy Jeannette Hospital in Jeannette, Pa. There, she was responsible for evaluation and treatment of adults and children with orthopedic and neurological disorders in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, inpatient and outpatient settings. She also developed a student manual and assisted in the development of the Lymphedema program at Mercy Jeannette.
Colaianni assumed her responsibilities at Milligan on Nov. 17. She succeeded Kay Broeder, who served as fieldwork coordinator since 1997. Broeder will be relocating outside the Tri-Cities area.
Milligan’s master of science in occupational therapy program promotes integration and utilization of theory and practice in the art and science of occupational therapy. The resultant critical thinking and clinical skills will provide graduates with potential to attain leadership roles in clinical practice, administration, research and education.
