MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 17, 2003) — The Milligan College Chamber Orchestra will perform in concert this Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Chapel.
This concert includes a variety of works. Songs from Holst and Britten will be featured, along with a celebration of Celtic music. The Milligan College String Quartet will also perform.
The Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1999 as an expansion of the string program at Milligan. The Chamber Orchestra provides ensemble experience for Milligan students, as well as students from East Tennessee State University, Milligan alumni, area high school students and members of the community.
The Chamber Orchestra performs throughout East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia and frequently plays with other area ensembles including the Johnson City Civic Chorale, the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, and the East Tennessee Children’s Choir.
Dr. Kellie Dubel Brown is the director of the Milligan College Chamber Orchestra and the strings program. She has been a member of the College’s music faculty since 1998.
Brown is a frequent performer throughout the area and is the founder and principal violinist of the Appalachian String Quartet. She also serves as the assistant concertmaster for the Symphony of the Mountains.
Brown holds a B.A. in music education, a M.M. in violin performance, and an Ed.D. in higher education administration.
