Milligan announces Founder’s Award

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 30, 2003) — Milligan College has named Meggan Musaus as this year’s recipient of the Founder’s Award, in recognition of her service to her fellow students and to the college. Nominated by her fellow classmates, Musaus was then selected by a panel of faculty and staff.

Musaus is a senior early childhood education major from Lake Worth, Fla. She is the president of Social Affairs, a club that works throughout the year planning events to meet diverse social needs of the students. She is also involved with Beacon, an organization that plans and organizes a short-term mission trip each semester.

The Founder’s Award presented Musaus with $400 to apply to a service at the college. She chose to establish a fund for a communications/publications initiative, in which all students can benefit. Musaus said her goal is to motivate students to be involved with campus events.

The Founder’s Award is a variation of the long-standing Milligan tradition of selecting a “Founder’s Daughter.” Since the fall of 1951 when Milligan hosted its first Founder’s Day, Milligan remembers and celebrates the establishment of the college and its founders, Josephus and Sarah Hopwood. It was the Hopwoods’ desire to create a college that would prepare students for a lifetime of Christian service.

The Founder’s Award is presented as part of the college’s annual Homecoming activities.
