MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (August 20, 2003) – SONFEST, a community celebration and service at Milligan College, will be held this Sunday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Seeger Memorial Chapel on the campus of Milligan College.
The service will open with praise and worship, followed by main speaker Matt Smith, a former cast member of MTV’s “Real World” New Orleans House. A Christian, Smith follows in the footsteps of Christian recording artist Kathy Troccoli as national spokesperson for LIFE TEEN, a ministry that addresses the spiritual, emotional, educational and social needs of teenagers.
As a cast member on “Real World,” Smith demonstrated how a Christian can live faithfully in today’s world. His unbending moral stand and compassionate understanding quickly set Smith apart from his six fellow roommates on MTV’s notoriously decadent chart-topper.
Since the show wrapped filming, Smith has traveled the globe with LIFE TEEN, speaking to tens of thousands of young people about his relationship with Jesus and his adventures in faith in this modern world. His unique style, charm, wit and charisma enable Smith to successfully share his faith with everyone he meets.
The LIFE TEEN ministry, based in Mesa, Ariz., is 15 years old and includes more than 600 successful programs worldwide, with more than 70,000 teenagers participating in weekly events. The program has received national recognition for effectively turning around the lives of thousands of teens through programs dedicated to their personal and spiritual well-being.
Doors will open for Sunday’s SONFEST event at 6 p.m. Praise and worship will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Matt Smith at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information about SONFEST, call 423.461.8735
