MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (June 19, 2003) – Chandrea Shell of Roan Mountain, Tenn., has been named public relations project specialist and sports information director at Milligan College. She began her role June 9.
For the past seven years, Shell has worked with non-profit organizations in varying degrees, most recently serving as executive director of Spruce Pine Community Hospital Foundation in Spruce Pine, N.C. Her experience includes a vast array of marketing and public relations improvement initiatives. In addition to fundraising activities, Shell’s organizational development experience includes web and publication design, event planning and campaign implementation.
At Milligan, Shell will assist the director of public relations in promoting and enhancing the mission, reputation and recognition of Milligan College as a “premier Christian liberal arts college where Jesus Christ is exalted and excellence is the standard.”
Additionally, Shell will work with Milligan athletes, coaches, athletic conference officials and regional media to promote the college’s athletic programs and disseminate game information to the public.
A 2000 graduate of Milligan’s Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP), Shell holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
When asked about returning as an employee to her alma mater, Shell stated, “As an alumna of Milligan College, I experienced first hand the benefits of Milligan’s integrated approach to faith-based learning. It has been my dream to work with the College in assuring a continuum of academic excellence for future scholars. Now that dream has been brought to fruition. I am honored to be a part of an extremely talented team working for the future of the college.”
Shell is an active member at First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain where she serves as director of the church youth program. Shell, her husband, Richard, and son, Dalton, reside in Roan Mountain, Tenn.
Shell succeeds Carolyn Payton as public relations project specialist. Payton and her husband, Jason, will be relocating to Kentucky where Mr. Payton received a scholarship to complete his doctoral degree and Mrs. Payton will work as publications coordinator for the art museum at the University of Kentucky.
