Associated Ladies for Milligan host national Christian comedian

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 4, 2003) – Kay DeKalb Smith-the “Carol Burnett of Christian entertainment”-will speak at Milligan College on April 5 at 12 noon at Milligan College for the inaugural luncheon of the Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM), a new organization for women alumni and friends of Milligan College.

“We want ladies in our area to have fun and fellowship with other Christian women,” says Clarinda Jeanes, founder of ALM, a group she initiated to be an outreach to the community and enrich women’s ministry in the region.

Smith, whose goal in life is to make people laugh and lift their Spirits with God’s truth, lives in Nashville, Tenn., with her husband and two teenage daughters. She travels the country singing and entertaining. Smith has three music recordings and three video productions, including, “God Bless This Home We’ve Made,” which has been nationally televised on the Odyssey Network.

Along with Smith’s entertainment, Jeanes explained that the inaugural luncheon will introduce the ALM organization to the Tri-Cities community and encourage local women to join the organization.

Jeanes, a 1971 alumna of the college and wife of current president Donald Jeanes, formed ALM after renovating the historical Taylor/Phillips house in 2001-02. The house was named a Tennessee Historic Site in 2000 and will serve as a venue for the events and activities sponsored by ALM.

“Through ALM we hope to raise scholarship funds for Milligan students, be an outreach to the campus community, and enrich women’s ministry in the local community,” says Jeanes.

The cost of the luncheon is $10. For more information on attending the luncheon or how to join ALM, call Clarinda Jeanes at 423-461-8710, e-mail cpjeanes@milligan.edu, or visit www.milligan.edu/ALM.
