MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 24, 2003) -Milligan fine arts students will display their work at the Nelson Fine Arts Center at 324 E Main St., Johnson City, for the month of March. The exhibit, entitled “The Buffalo Creek School Show,” will open with a reception on Friday, Mar. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m., featuring the artists in attendance.

The exhibit will be on display Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the entire month of March.

“This exhibit provides excellent off-campus exposure for the students,” said Nick Blosser, assistant professor of art. “It gives the community a chance to see the talent that we have at Milligan.”

Dick Nelson, the owner of the Nelson Fine Art Center, is excited to have Milligan students in his gallery for the first time.

“It’s exciting to see what Milligan students have to offer the community in terms of fine art,” said Nelson.

The students, selected by their fine art professors, will each display four to five pieces, consisting of ceramics, paintings, photographs, drawings or sculptures. The art will also be for sale.

The featured art students include Nathan Pelton of Apex, N. C., Adah Hutchcraft of Elizabethton, Tenn., Jamie Osborne of Lebanon, Va., Rachel Hattfield Dalton of Bloomington, Ill., Dimitri Nicoli Jansen of South Venice, Fla., Daniel Clemens of New Philidelphia, Ohio, Kenneth James Tencza III of Lancaster, Ohio, Josh Ulm of Manassas, Va., Ann McCall of Glade Spring, Va., Sarah Smith of Mount Vernon, Ill., Amber Neill of St. Peters, Mo., Chad Parker of Powell, Tenn., Jason Harville of Springboro, Ohio, Evan Longfield of San Antonio, Texas, Dinah DeFord of Kingsport, Tenn. and Beth Pearson of Johnson City, Tenn.

“Art is a vehicle for students to express their emotions, faith and feelings to others in the community,” said Jansen. “This is a great opportunity for us to give people an idea of what is important to us through our art work.”
