MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Jan. 21, 2003) – The Milligan College music department will sponsor an Alexander Technique workshop on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 9 am – 12:45 pm in Seeger Chapel.
The Alexander Technique is an educational process used for improving movement and expression in music. This technique re-educates the body toward efficient production of vocal sound.
Dr. Charlotte Anderson, the Alexander Technique workshop clinician, is a professor at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Va. Anderson, a Mezzo-soprano, has performed extensively in opera, oratorio and symphonic song. As a scholar and lecturer, she has presented lecture recitals on both classical and Broadway styles and has presented Alexander Technique workshops around the country.
Anderson holds a doctor of musical arts in vocal pedagogy and master of music in vocal performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and a bachelor of arts in music from Youngstown State University.
Along with being a distinguished performer, lecturer and teacher, Anderson also currently maintains private voice studios in Kingsport, Tenn., and Charlottesville, Va.
