The Tri-Cities Branch of the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee recently recognized companies and individuals who have earned the respect of their peers for their skills, professionalism and integrity.
Awards were given as follows: J.A. Street & Associates, Blountville, General Contractor of the Year; Mark Fauver of J.A. Street & Associates, Project Manager of the Year; E.S. Dockery Inc., Johnson City, Subcontractor of the Year; and ENCO Materials Inc., Johnson City, Supplier of the Year.
Projects for the Project of the Year Awards were submitted for judging in two categories: $1.5 Million and Over and $1.5 Million and Under. Projects must have been completed in 2001 and were judged based on criteria that included project management, scheduling performance, overall quality and sensitivity to the environment.
Winner in the $1.5 Million and Under category was the Children’s Advocacy Center, Bristol, Va., designed by Kapp & Robins and built by J.A. Street & Associates. Winner in the $1.5 Million and Over category was Milligan College’s Derthick Hall, designed by Beeson, Lusk & Street and built by Burleson Construction Co. Inc., Johnson City.
Architect of the Year Awards went to Harry McKinney of Burwil Construction Co., Bristol, for Broadway Cinemas at Claypool Hill Mall in Cedar Bluff, Va., and Thomas E. Weems of Johnson City for the new family life center at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Safety Awards went to HVAC Inc., Bristol, and Keller Glasco Inc., Johnson City.
The Associated General Contractors of America, established in 1918, is a full-service construction association with 100 chapters representing 33,000 firms. Branches of the Nashville State Chapter are located in the Tri-Cities, Knoxville, Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee.
