MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 26, 2001)-More than 1,000 people from throughout the region are expected to kick off their holiday season this year by attending a madrigal dinner at Milligan College. Opening night for the 35th annual Milligan College Christmas Dinners is this Friday, Nov. 30, with performances continuing on Dec. 1, 6, 7 and 8.
The dinner theatre is a traditional madrigal production. The college’s dining hall is transformed into a 16th century Elizabethan English castle, and participants are the dinner guests of the king and queen. Noblemen, court jesters, instrumentalists and Milligan’s Chamber Singers help make the evening’s experience authentic and light-hearted.
“The program is produced by the college’s Area of Performing, Visual and Communicative Arts and features an outstanding company of musical and theatrical performers,” said director Richard Major, now in his 17th year as head of the Milligan College theatre program. Musical direction is provided by John Wakefield, associate professor of music.
The doors open at 7 p.m. each. Ticket prices are $26 and $29 and are available by calling 423-461-8916. For more information, visit www.milligan.edu or call Richard Major at 461-8771.
