MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 4, 2001) –The Milligan College Student Government Association will sponsor a blood drive Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12, on the Milligan campus. The Marsh Regional Blood Center will park its bloodmobile in front of Hart Hall and accept donations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Student Government Association President Nevan Hooker hopes community response to this blood drive will be as great as last month’s drives to supply blood to New York City and Washington D.C.
“There is a critical need for blood in the Tri-Cities area,” Hooker said. “The fifteen minutes it takes to donate a pint of blood can save a person’s life.”
The bloodmobile can house two to four donors at a time. After giving blood, donors will be treated to a snack before leaving the bloodmobile.
Last spring’s blood drive netted 85 pints of blood. The donation goal for this blood drive is 100 pints. Hooker said Milligan students and faculty want to help make a difference in the community through the blood drive.
“There are tremendous needs in our area,” Hooker said. “Giving blood is an important way to show we care.”
