TRI-CITIES REGION

Milligan's 181-acre picturesque campus is located in Northeast Tennessee, minutes from Elizabethton and Johnson City in the dynamic Tri-Cities region.

The Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia region is an area of natural beauty and rich history. The National Civic League recently named the Tri-Cities the first All-America Region. Here you can enjoy historical locations, theaters, parks, restaurants, shops and more! There are also many recreational opportunities in this part of Southern Appalachia, including boating, water skiing, snow skiing, white water rafting, fishing, jogging, and hiking.

The Johnson City / Kingsport / Bristol, TN/VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, where Milligan is located, has a population of 484,900, with expected growth to almost 500,000 by 2006. This region is ranked the 73rd largest MSA in the nation, out of 354 metropolitan areas, and 32 percent of the population is under age 24.

We're also only an hour from Asheville, NC, and less than two hours from Knoxville, TN.

State Street, Bristol, VA/TN

Looking for a something to do? Have you ever been in two places at the same time? State Street divides Bristol, TN and Bristol, VA. Come on out to State Street and enjoy a great selection of restaurants, coffee houses, shopping and much more!

Bays Mountain Planetarium and Park
Bays Mountain is home to the Milligan telescope. There is an observatory, wild animals and beautiful scenery here. It's a great place to go to relax and enjoy nature.
 
USA Raft
USA Raft is located on Jones Branch Rd. Their mailing address is Box 2, Erwin TN, 37650. You can call 423-743-7111, and toll free 1-800-USA-RAFT to make reservations. Visit them on the web at www.usaraft.com. Their specialties are Canoes and guided whitewater raft trips They are open March thru October.

Watauga Kayak
Watauga Kayak is a local Whitewater Rafting, Lake and River Kayaking Outfitter in Elizabethton, TN. They are open year round for tours and rentals. The retail shop is open April - December, 6 days a week, and January - April, Saturdays only. For more information, call 423-542-6777, or visit wataugakayak.com and trouttown.com.

Roan Mountain State Park
Roan Mountain is one of the taller mountains in our area. The mountain offers something different during each season. Roan Mountain is great for hiking and picnics. The view from the summit is breathtaking, and well worth the hike! http://www.roanmountain.com

Beech Mountain
If you're looking for the perfect place to relax and enjoy all of the beauty and splendor of the North Carolina Mountains, then you should visit Beech Mountain!!

Sugar Mountain
With its 1,200-foot vertical, Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina, and one of few resorts breaking a 1,000-foot vertical south of New England.
