Milligan holds Youth in Ministry teen conference

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (July 25, 2005) — Teens from throughout the United States are on the Milligan College campus as Milligan holds Youth in Ministry (YiM)'s week-long summer conference the week of July 25. The Big Picture Teen Leadership Conference provides workshops for those interested in teaching, media, counseling, drama, worship, preaching, missions and creative arts.

“Many young people today are asking, ‘What is my purpose?' ‘How should I define success?' ‘What is God calling me to do?'” said Phyllis Fox, director of YiM. “We explore those questions and help teens find answers at The Big Picture Conference.”

The Big Picture involves life discovery assessments, accountability groups, worship services and hands-on ministry opportunities with local ministers and professionals who work in churches and benevolent organizations. By the end of the week, teens develop a personal action plan to help guide their future decisions and vocational choices.

Curtis Booher, student minister at Crossroads Christian Church in Gray, Tenn., is dean of The Big Picture Student Leadership Conference. Other conference leaders and counselors include youth and student ministers from churches in the Southeast, as well as faculty and students from Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion.

“Our mission is for The Big Picture to be a week that will change teens' lives and help guide their futures,” said Fox.

YiM has led workshops and seminars throughout the region and eastern U.S. to help teens identify their uniq ue calling in life and is a partnership of Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion.
