Milligan College students receive scholarships and awards
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 26, 2004) — Over 50 awards and scholarships were presented to several Milligan College students for their academic accomplishments this past year.
Student Success Service Recognition Awards were presented to Erin LaVallee of Lima, Ohio; Shane Oakleaf of Newark, Ohio; Aaron Scott of Avon, Ohio; and Eric Starr of Bartlesville, Okla.
Board of Advisor Awards include: Outstanding Academic Student , Paige Wassell of Robinson, Ill.; Outstanding Male Athlete , Brad Hitch of Maryville, Tenn.; and Outstanding Female Athlete , Shelby Banion of Paris, Ky.
The SGA Distinguished Service Award was presented to Adam Bisesi of Carme, Ind. The Student Leadership Award was presented to Jessica Carter of Laurel, Md.
The Ivor Jones Outstanding Senior Award recipient was Grete Riggs of Indianapolis, Ind. This award, named for the beloved Milligan alumna and professor Ivor Jones, is presented to a graduating senior who demonstrated outstanding performance in the following areas: service to the college, potential for continuing the objectives of the college, notable academic record and participation in college life.
Business awards include the Institute of Managerial Accountants Outstanding Accounting Student Awards , Andrew King of Knoxville, Tenn. and Crystal Craigo of Bakersville, N.C.; The Wall Street Journal Award , Myra O'Dell of Kingsport; and Outstanding Student Scholarship Award : Business , Crystal Craigo of Bakersville, N.C.
The WJHL Lancaster Scholarship Awards were presented to Michael Hewitt of Mason, Ohio and Amy Goodlet of Cape Coral, Fla. The Johnson City Press Tom Hodge Journalism Scholarship recipient was Melissa Mills of Jacksonville, Fla. Other communications awards include: Outstanding Student Scholarship Award: Communication , Erin Blasinski of Johnson City, Tenn.; Communications Area Technical Assistance Award , Pete Thomas of Dresden, Ohio; Outstanding Digital Media Student Award , Anthony Dunning of Las Vegas, Nev.; Stampede Leadership Awards , Erin Blasinski of Johnson City, Tenn. and Annie Tipton of Shreve, Ohio; Stampede Writing Award , Paige Wassel, Robinson, Ill.; Outstanding Photojournalism Student Award , Hannah Bader of Canton, Ohio; WUMC-FM 90.5 College Radio Student Leadership Award , Terry Holtman of Unicoi, Tenn.; Outstanding Public Relations Student Award , Melodee Maas of Morristown, Tenn.; and Outstanding Cinema Student Award , Phillip Brock of Burlington, Ky.

Human Performance and Exercise Science (HPXS) awards include: HPXS Physical Education Award , Junia Gindelsperger of Turtle Creek, Pa.; and HPXS Exercise Science Award , Nelson Caudill of Winchester, Ky.

The Outstanding Student Scholarship Award: Humane Learning was presented to Clair Miller of South Vienna, Ohio. The Outstanding Student Scholarship Award: Biblical Learning was presented to David Bielek of St Louis, Mo. The Student Psychology Major of the Year Award was presented to Jennifer Sharpe of Milligan College, Tenn. The Outstanding Student Scholarship Award: Social Learning was presented to Karissa Schrage of Carl Junction, Mo. The Computer Information Systems Award was presented to Nick DeGroot of Vero Beach, Fla. The Legal Studies Award was presented to Brian Worstell of Virginia Beach, Va. The Outstanding Mathematics Major Award was presented to Shane Oakleaf of Newark, Ohio.
