Milligan Jazz Ensemble holds fall concert
By: Autumn Hamby, PR Intern

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (November 18, 2002) - The Milligan College Jazz Ensemble will hold a fall concert, free of charge, for the community on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel on the campus of Milligan College.

The 20-piece ensemble is under the direction of Milligan College music professor, Rick Simerly.

"The Milligan College Jazz Ensemble could be considered both a school ensemble and a community jazz band," said Simerly, "This ensemble serves as an outlet for Milligan students, other college and high school students, as well as adults from throughout the region who have a desire to play and perform jazz."

The event will feature special guest saxophone artist, Todd Wright. Wright is director of jazz studies at Appalachian State University and has performed with such great jazz artists as Clark Terry, Joe Williams, Eddie Daniels, Billy Taylor and Louis Bellson.

The concert will feature selections made famous by the bands of Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Count Basie and Maynard Ferguson.
