Although all Christians are called to ministry, some are set apart for leadership roles in the church. The Bible major is designed to help prepare men and women to serve as leaders in a wide variety of settings, including local congregations, local and international missions, and various educational institutions. The core of the major consists of courses in scripture, church history and ministry. Students then choose a specific track within the Bible major, rounding out their coursework with classes that address the concerns and issues related to that particular field of ministry.
The children's ministry, pastoral ministry, and youth ministry tracks are designed to equip men and women to serve the church in its primary purpose of making disciples. In addition to taking courses tailored to the specific concerns of these ministries, students participate in a summer internship where they gain hands-on experience.
The worship leadership major is designed to prepare men and women who desire to serve the church in the specific area of worship. This interdisciplinary major combines the heart of the Bible major with additional studies in music and drama. Students learn to design and lead meaningful and theologically sound worship experiences for a variety of settings. Students also gain important experience through a summer internship tailored to their specific interests and aspirations.
The missions program is designed for those students who desire to devote themselves to God's mission in the world. Missions majors complete a Bible major and a modified sociology minor. Missions majors are also expected to complete a cross-cultural internship as part of their program.
The general studies track is designed for those who desire a more concentrated focus in Bible, church history, or theology, often with a view toward a ministry of teaching. The culminating experience for this track is an advanced academic research project supervised by a faculty mentor.

Our Graduates
Besides the many who are serving in local churches or as independent missionaries, our graduates are working for organizations such as Christian Missionary Fellowship, English Language Institute of China, Pioneer Bible Translators, and TEAM Expansion. Many others have pursued graduate studies at institutions such as Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Cincinnati Christian Seminary, Duke Divinity School, Emmanuel School of Religion, Fuller Theological Seminary, Lincoln Christian Seminary, Princeton Seminary, Vanderbilt Divinity School, and many others.
Internships & Scholarships
Not only are our classes challenging and beneficial, but our students are also encouraged to get involved in some kind of ministry or service while in school, thereby actually putting their learning into practice. And every student majoring in Bible/Ministry is required to do an internship as part of the graduation requirements. We believe the Lord wants us all to be involved in His service — now as well as in the future.
In addition to several specific ministry-focused scholarships available for both incoming and continuing students, Milligan offers a very generous program of assistance based on academic ability and past performance. Approximately 92 percent of Milligan students receive financial aid of some kind, including both academic scholarships and need-based grants. Numerous work-study positions, sometimes in your area of study, are available on campus. Students may apply for scholarships during the time they apply for admission to the college.
