IT'S ABOUT WHO YOU ARE!
Traditional Residential Housing
Since Milligan is a residential college (80% of our traditional students live on campus in one of six residence halls or student apartments), the Residence Halls and other campus housing options are the main source for community life and social involvement.
The Residence Hall staff works hard to maintain and promote all areas of student development within the residence halls. Each Residence Hall has a Resident Director (RD) and Resident Assistants (RA) on staff to help residents with academic, housing, and personal problems, and to handle all emergency situations relating to life in the Residence Hall.
To assist their efforts and to promote a thriving living environment, it is important for all residents to agree to live within certain guidelines. Each student is responsible for reading and being familiar with all college regulations, including those in the Milligan College Student Handbook and the College Catalog. Included below are several items that are often the topic of frequently asked questions about the Residence Halls. More information will be provided at check-in and registration.
Married Student Housing
A limited number of college-owned apartments are available for married students. Additional information and application forms may be obtained from Ann Easter in the Student Development Office, 423.461.8760. Click here to download an application.
Commuters
Milligan College would like you, as a commuter
student, to feel at home on your campus. You are encouraged to
participate in all aspects of college life. Some of the services
available include a meal plan designed for those who are on
campus only at certain times, study/lounge areas for those
unable to return home between classes and representation on the
Student Government Association (SGA).
Milligan provides opportunities for student development in the
area of extracurricular organizations covering such interests as
hiking, missions, political science, art, etc. You will receive
a student handbook when you arrive on campus explaining each
group and information on how to become involved. The Student
Government Association plans a variety of spiritual and social
events during the year that make student life interesting and
fulfilling. Intramural athletics on campus include football,
softball, volleyball, tennis, and basketball. Participation in
these activities is open to all students throughout the year.
All students who plan to live off campus must 1) fulfill one of
the following requirements and 2) must complete the enclosed
Off Campus Living Request form and return
it in the envelope provided. All students at Milligan College
must live on campus unless they fulfill one of the following:
Have a completed
Off Campus Request form on file before each
fall semester stating one of the following:
-
married
-
living with a member of his/her immediate
family (parents, grandparents, married brother or sister)
-
has completed 128 semester hours or 8
semesters of academic work
-
total class load for a given semester is
less than 9 hours (those with less than 9 hours may live in
the dorm if desired.)
-
a military veteran of more than one (1)
year
-
is 23 years of age or older before the fall
semester
Vehicles on Campus
The use of a vehicle on campus is a privilege
extended to the college community. Each motorized vehicle must
be registered by the Student Development Office at the time
you register for classes or in the Student Development Office
after registration. Please have the following information when
you register: license tag/plate number, color, make, model,
and year of your vehicle(s). $100 fine for not registering
vehicle or displaying sticker.
Each vehicle driven/parked on campus must be registered.
Operators of these vehicles are expected to learn and
following the driving/parking policies on campus (outlined in
the Student Handbook). Violators of these policies are
subjecting themselves to significant fines and loss of vehicle
privileges. Fines range from $20 to $100 and must be paid
within seven days in the Student Development Office or an
additional fine of $10 will be added and the fine will be
placed on the student's account. Receiving more than ten
tickets can result in the loss of driving privileges on
campus.
