Honor: A Proud Heritage, A Bright Future

HopwoodsFrom its beginnings in 1866, young men and women from the mountains of Appalachia and far beyond have journeyed to campus on the faith that Milligan University would be the place their dreams would take root. Milligan’s leaders—legendary presidents Josephus Hopwood and Henry Derthick, and all those who followed—have believed in the founding principle, Christian Education, The Hope of the World.

Today, Milligan is a dynamic university continually recognized for its consistently high quality student experience, for its strong educational outcomes, and for its affordability and value. Whatever the time, whatever the challenge, for 150 years Milligan has stood proudly for excellence in Christian higher education. Forward Ever.

In honor of Milligan’s 150th, we are proud to announce Sesquicentennial Plaza, a newly designed outdoor courtyard for students located just outside the P.H. Welshimer Library’s southeast entrance, facing Seeger Memorial Chapel, in the heart of campus.

Be a part of honoring Milligan’s century-and-a-half long history and the important role the University has played in your life. Show your appreciation for your time here, remember a family member, celebrate your classmates, or recognize someone special in your life with a gift of $150 to the Sesquicentennial Plaza Commemorative Brick Program.

Your name, or that of someone you wish to honor or remember, will be etched on a commemorative brick and incorporated into this beautiful space that the Milligan community will enjoy for years to come.
